Sasen Ryu Martial Arts Academy have now added Kung Fu to their classes
The art of BMS - Body, Mind & Spirit is based on the ancient art of Wing Chun.
Self defense, combined with practical knowledge & fighting skills, combine to make this a multi-range system, suitable for all ages.
BMS emphasises the use of strategy and dealing with the direction of force, rather than the magnitude of opponents strength.

Students are taught within small, mixed classes. Beginners and advanced students learn together in a safe, controlled environment, making training an enjoyable experience for everyone.
The system deals in depth with all the ranges of fighting from grappling to kicking. Kicks are mainly delivered from the waist down making them quicker, stronger and more difficult to block, this makes the system also suitable for those who do not have a high level of flexibility.
Because the punch is delivered through the elbow and not the shoulder, the student does not rely on upper body strength to generate power. Fingers, palms, elbow and body are all used for striking.
Close quarter exercises develop sensitivity in the wrists, meaning that your opponents moves will be telegraphed by touch. This contact reflex is used when close to your opponent since, at such close proximity, the eyes are not able to pick up movements fast enough. By-passing conscious thought, it turns our responses into ones of highly skilled second nature.
On the physical side, advanced footwork deals with the direction, rather than the magnitude of your opponents force. Strikes and blocks are used so that maximum efficiency is achieved without reliance on brute strength. Careful use of strategy ensures that self defence situations do not degenerate into brawls.
BMS has a harmonising effect. it balances the individual, harnessing over-aggression and giving drive to the over-passive. In practising the system the inner power CHI is developed to a high degree enabling both children, men and women regardless of size, strength, speed or power to become competent in self-defence.
